Brave

Today was a movie marathon day with my sister.  We watched some movies, three of them were Ice Age – The Meltdown, Wind Chill, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.  There was one thing I realized.  Men are always the same.  Mostly.

Why would I say that?  Here’s the thing.

In the Ice Age, there was a scene after the ice stop cracking, a group of Mammoths was walking to one direction, followed by Ellie.  Ellie was asking to Manny whether he was coming or not.  At that moment, it felt like Manny was about to say something to Ellie.  Saying that Ellie wasn’t supposed to follow the group, or did Ellie have feeling for him, or did Ellie want to be with him or not.  But, stupid him, instead of saying those, Manny just said that he wished her a happy trip.  What an idiot.  Because we could see from Ellie’s eyes, she was hoping Manny to ask her went with him.  My sister and I could see the disappointment in Ellie’s eyes.

In the Wind Chill, there were two main roles, a boy and a girl.  Just that, there were no names whatsoever.  The Boy offered the Girl a ride from Pennsylvania University to her home in Delaware.   Long story short, they were lost, in the middle of nowhere because actually the Boy didn’t come from Delaware as he declared to the girl before.  After some shocking scenes, he got injured.   To keep him awake, they talked.  He said that he felt sorry for not asking the girl out at the first place because he liked her so much.  If he could and he wished he could turning back in time, he would asked her out.  But in the end, he died.

And in the Harry Potter series, we all know that Ronald Weasley has a feeling for Hermione Granger.  But until the last movie, the Deadly Hollow part 2, he never tells her about his feeling.  Event in Goblet of Fire, Ron doesn’t ask Hermione to go to the Ball with him from the very beginning.  Even he says that, “Hermione, you’re a girl.  Do you want to go to the Ball with me?”  What a dumb move.  Fortunate for him, he could end up with Hermione at the end of the series.

From those three movies, my sister and I made a conclusion.  Sometimes, men are hard to understand.  Sometimes they tend to forget their capacity to act as a leader, to make a move when they’ve got a chance and not to run away instead.  They should not waste their time or the women’s time on waiting for them.

Not every men though, but in this case, since we got the conclusion based on those three movies, we kinda have to say that.

Now the lesson.

If you were in Manny, the Boy or Ron Weasley’s shoes, please take a deep breath and act.  Please be aware of every single sign from Ellie, the Girl or Hermione.  Please be brave and ask for her hand.   Nothing’s wrong with that.

Good for you if you have second chance.  Second chance to be brave as Manny was at last.  Second chance to have next opportunity to say his feeling as Ron had.  But what if you don’t have it, like the Boy.  He ended up dead, with no second chance.

There is a very great song from Sara Bareilles.  Brave.  Please listen to it.  Even though it’s not only about love song, but it can be inspired.  If, again, you were in Manny, the Boy or Ron Weasley’s shoes, just imagine Ellie, the Girl or Hermione sung this song for you.  It might encourage you to be brave, more brave.
