This morning, Bekasi was cloudy. Even though the sun hasn't shining yet, but I could tell from the atmosphere from the air. It was heavy, full of aqueous vapor. There were several puddles on the street, indicating the pouring rain occurred through the night. But still, it wasn't raining when I went out from home to the office.
It was 5.16 am, and I was lazy to take 5.18 am Trans Galaxi bus. Not only because I arrived at bus station at the very last minute, which meant I wouldn't have a proper sit, I will also be arrived at the office very early in the morning, about 6.30 am. Therefore, I decided to take the next bus, the 5.28 am so I can choose my favorite sit, row number two and next to the window, and hopefully arrived at the office about 7.00 am.
As soon the bus left the station, it was still normal. The speed was normal since the traffic was normal. But when we reached the flyover, I saw so many red light coming from cars queuing on the highways. Still, I felt oke, because we wouldn't get in to the highways from that nearby gate.
As we reached the highways, the traffic turned slowly. Every five minutes, I looked at the clock hanging on the ceiling. My heart started beating fast, because the bus' speed started affected by the rain. It was 6.25 am, and we haven't reached Cawang yet, while normally at that time, I should be walking on the sidewalk from Komdak to DJP.
I started feeling regret. Why didn't I take the earlier bus instead of this one? Why would I risked my salary just for not having arrived at the office earlier? Because every time I'm late, I will have my salary cut. It's called TL 1 to 4, with the proportion of cutting from 0.5%, 1%, 1.25% and maximum 5%. Since I already have 7.5% of cutting, I will literally not be willingly to have another salary cutting.
When the clock at 7.05 am, the traffic was back to normal, finally. And the bus was able to pulled over at Komdak at 07.10 am. I was relief. I still had about 15 minutes to walk and get at the office in time (my office hour starts at 07.30 am). But came another obstacle. It was raining, heavy. Such a raining cats and dogs, causing the water started to pooled and making us, the streetwalker, even harder to walk. But I had no time to grumble. Soon after my foot hit the road, I opened my umbrella and walked. Very fast. I didn't even care if my shoes went wet. As long as I didn't get TL today.
And I didn't. I arrived just in time, 7.20 am.
So, what was the point of this writing? Well, I was grateful for having 5.28 am bus instead of 5.18 am bus. Even though before I felt a little regret, actually, it was unnecessary. Because, when my bus at Semanggi exit highway, I see something. Just in front of my bus, there was 05.18 am bus. It meant, that bus had the same speed with my bus. And I was lucky. If I took 5.18 bus, I should fell anxious of being late, while standing for almost 2 hours. But since I didn't, still I did feel anxious, but at least on my comfy seat.
Just, trust your gut.
